Golden Cauliflower “Steak”

This savory and sweet Golden Cauliflower “Steak” will be your new favorite weeknight meal – it’s so yummy and easy! It’s jam packed with nutritious ingredients like cauliflower, turmeric, cilantro, and avocado. Serve on a bed of rice or quinoa and top with cilantro chutney sauce – enjoy!



Cauliflower Steak

  • 1 large head cauliflower
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. coconut oil – melted
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • dash of coriander
  • dash of paprika
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • dash of ground ginger

Cilantro Chutney

  • 1 cup fresh cilantro – tightly packed
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 lime – juiced
  • 1 Tbsp. maple syrup
  • ~ 2 Tbsp. filtered water to thin
  1. Preheat oven to 400F and line baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Remove stems from cauliflower head and slice cauliflower into steak slivers – here is a video showing how to slice cauliflower steaks – How to Cut Cauliflower Steaks – place on lined baking sheet
  3. Place melted coconut oil, sea salt, maple syrup, turmeric, cumin, ground cinnamon, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, and ground ginger in small mixing bowl – whisk to combine
  4. Rub cauliflower steaks with spice mixture on both sides
  5. Bake for ~24 minutes or until slightly golden, flipping the steaks halfway through for an even bake
  6. While the steaks are roasting, make the cilantro chutney by adding cilantro, garlic, avocado, salt, pepper, lime juice, maple syrup, and filtered water to a high speed blender and blend until well combined – add more water to thin – set aside
  7. Remove steaks from oven and serve immediately with the cilantro chutney and a bed of quinoa or rice!
